Attending Area Academies

Membership of the music centres provides another outstanding resource for young people to expand their musical repertoire as well as enhance progress on their chosen instrument or instruments. Each of the ensembles at the music centres stages regular public performances.

Each of the area academies runs slightly differently and offer variations on the types of orchestras and bands etc that you can choose to play in. There may be junior and senior versions of groups in different areas. Information about what each centre will provide can be found on the following pages.

To join any band or ensemble, simply register online. If you prefer, you can also print a paper version of the registration form and send it back to Cambridgeshire by post.

For students learning an instrument with Cambridgeshire Music in school or at a music centre, membership is included in your tuition package. For students learning outside of Cambridgeshire Music, there will be an annual membership fee of £132 (£44 per term) payable by direct debit or instalments across the year. Once registered as a member, students can join as many of bands and ensembles as they wish.

All of the centres are open to suggestions and requests, subject to any limitations on accommodation and teaching staff availability. Each centre offers unparalleled musical opportunities to improve both your own playing and to play with others as you explore the rich cultural heritage of music – from ancient to modern.
