Singing Sensation with Leigh McDonald

Singing Sensation! with LEIGH MCDONALD: Musical Theatre
Singing Day + CPD Free for all Singers and Singing Leaders

10:00 - 14:30 Singing Sensation! A day of active and energetic learning focussed on all things musical theatre!
Aim: to give singing students year 5 to year 11 a memorable, enjoyable and informative day which gives them a better understanding of the role of voice in musical theatre through exercises, improvisation, rehearsal and performance

15:30 - 18:00 CPD This is a session for singing leaders giving practical advice and methodology in musical theatre oriented warm-ups, technique, games and repertoire: a useful opportunity to try out some techniques used during the Singing Sensation session that day with guidance and feedback.
Aim: to give singing leaders and interested adults the opportunity to discover and try some great musical theatre teaching methods.

Leigh McDonald is a musical theatre professional with many years’ experience in both performance and education. She trained at Guildford School of Acting. For 13 years she performed predominantly in music theatre, including 'Moby Dick' at the Piccadilly Theatre and The Royal National Theatre Ensemble 99. In 2003, she moved to Singapore where she developed her teaching and directing work. In 2008 and 2009, she took part in the international tour of 'Mamma Mia', playing the part of Rosie. Leigh then settled in England where she was the co-director and singing supervisor of a production of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ in Aylesbury.

There are only 300 places for each part of the day
This workshop follows Ken Burton’s fabulous and well attended Gospel workshop last summer. We anticipate that many schools will want to bring classes and choirs so please book early to avoid disappointment. The day session is aimed at Year 5 and 6 and secondary aged students. School staff will be responsible for their students during the day. The CPD session is open to all who are interested in leading singing and gaining singing skills: students, parents, helpers, adult singers as well as staff.

Cost
£4 per student for the day. CPD is free to all attendees
